There are numerous Virtues about reciting the Glorious Book Of Allah. We all know the kind of tranquility that descends upon a soul while reciting the Qur’an as its deep meaning and truths manifest themselves on the reader. You may be having a terrible day but the moment you open the Qur’an and start reading everything just seems to ebb away, especially if you are reciting verses about Jannah!
You may be undergoing tough times which pose a great test on your Imaan, but the Qur’an puts your heart at peace reminding you of your creator; how you may perceive something to be of harm to you and dislike it while in real sense it is beneficial.
There are quotations as well In the Qur’an where Allah (swt) instructs Rasululah (pbuh) to do so;
“And recite what has been revealed to you (O Muhammad) of the Book (the Qur’an)of your Lord. None can change His Words, and none will you find as a refuge other than Him.” Qur’an 18: 27
Some of the numerous virtues (i will state only 3)quoted in various Ahadeeth of Rasulullah (pbuh) include;
- Abu Umaamah (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Recite the Qur’an as it will come on the Day of Judgement as an intercessor for those who used to memorise and recite it.”
- Aa’ishah (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: “The one who recites the Qur’an and is skilled in doing so will be with the obedient and noble angels and the one who recites the Qur’an in hesitance due to difficulty will receive a double reward.”
- Abdullaah bin Amr ibn al-Aas reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: “It will be said to the one who had memorised the Qur’an [and acted upon it]: ‘Recite the Qur’an (ascending the levels of Paradise thereby) and do so slowly and melodiously just as you used to recite slowly and melodiously in the world since your abode will be at the place where you finish reciting your last verse.
I pray that Allah (swt) guides our hearts towards reciting and loving the Qur’an. On top of that i pray that He grants us the strength, willpower and resilience of acting upon its teachings.
