Come, let us reason together….

I told you about our new brother, Omarra here, and mentioned that out of fear that his mum might be against his choice of becoming a Muslim, he told her that he was in a ‘religious crisis’.

Well, his mum, like all mothers in their observant nature, noticed that at particular times Omarra was leaving the house without saying where he was heading. Now, she knew her son’s averseness to attending Church; she joined the dots and realised that indeed the crisis he was in was actually reverting to Islam.

Was she cross with him?
Did she chase him away from home?
Did she try and convince him to go back to Christianity?

What she did also took me completely by surprise.

She told Omarra that she had no problem whatsoever with him becoming Muslim since either way he would be worshipping His creator as per what he felt was the best way, SubhanaAllah!

Since then, she has been studying the translation of the Quran with him, asking questions where she did not comprehend and Omarra in turn comes with the questions to our revert centre for further clarification.

In her words to Omarra, she said that Religion, especially when there is the aspect of worshipping The One True God is involved. is not something to argue or fight about. It’s something that people should debate about in a logical way devoid of anger and prejudice!

Look at that! Devoid of anger and prejudice! How i wish everyone, Muslims included had this kind of perspective. Wallahi the world would be a much happier and peaceful place.

Among the queries she raised were as follows:
1. Why does Allah use the plural WE in the Quran? Does it signify there being more than one, or perhaps a trinity of some kind?
2. How does Islam explain the aspect of the Saabath day?
3. In the Quran, Jesus (as) is referred to as ‘The Word’; does this confirm him being there since the beginning of creation?

He came to our centre with the queries and alhamdulillah we gave him answers based on the Quran and Hadith.

How would you answer this queries if a non Muslim brings, who wants to debate with you in a logical way, brings them to you?

I would love to hear your thoughts on these.

Shukran wa jazaakAllah khyran

They have certainly disbelieved who say, “Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary” while the Messiah has said, “O Children of Israel, worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord.” Indeed, he who associates others with Allah – Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.
Qur’an (Al- Ma’idah) 5:72

And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, “Which is the first commandment of all?”
And Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.”
