I totally love Sheikh Zahir Mahmoud’s lectures, i mean, they are so lively and full of authentic narrations and proof from the Quran.
Today i was watching one of his lectures, “Live your life with a vision” and he narrated a story about a father and his son.
The son wanted the father to play with him, but the senior being busy as he was was did not want to, so instead of telling the boy that he could not, he tore up a map and told the boy to piece it back together.
This was an act of buying more time and not to punish the boy. Or perhaps he figured the boy would tire trying to piece the map back together and give up on the idea of playing with him.
To his astonishment, the boy pieced it back in just a matter of minutes. In amazement, he asked him how he had done it. The boy answered:
“Behind the map was a picture of a man’s face. So i put the man in order first and the world fell into place!”
We will never change the ummah until we change the conditions within our own selves. Our spouses and kids will never appreciate or perform Salaah, read Quran and other acts of worship if we do not perform them ourselves.
And since Allah (swt) has alread ygranted us the Grace of Islam, it goes without saying that we should be grateful for this by obeying Him and staying away from that which He has forbidden.
May Allah grant us the strength to put ourselves in order first before setting out to change the world.
Verily, Allah will never change the (good) condition of a people as long as they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves (by committing sins and being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah): Quran 13:11Advertisements
